 Actually it can't. On linux either you didn't have the libv4l2 package 
 installed and you end up with a binary that didn't have v4l support 
 or you did have it installed and the package build died (because of 
 the missing dependency). So explicitly disabling it, as I now do, 
 means that in the second case you now get the first result.

 Probably not, but it would need some patches that I haven't got around 
 to doing yet because the use in kopete is buried inside 
 explicit "#ifdef linux"'s so it doesn't even try to do the video 
 unless on linux.
 
 Making it work is on the TODO list at some point.
