Just look at the configure script which checks for libttf but it does
this by checking known directories and /usr/pkg/... is in the list of
known directories and so it finds the old freetype1 library.
So the buildlink infrastructure is not used at all.
The list of known directories also includes /usr/X11R6 and that is imho
the reason why a lot of other x11 libraries can not be found for 5.0
and so e.g XINERAMA and XPM are not enabled.
The --with-mesagl options is now --with-mesa but that does not work too
because of the hardcoded check for /usr/X11R6 which no longer works after
we switched to /usr/X11R7.
There is patch-ab which removes some of the checks for such directories
but only from a few places.
That was the point where I stopped.
