 Are you sure of that ? The rubber install does install the egg-info file
 on my machine, and
 $ pkg_info -a | grep py
 xdpyinfo-1.0.3      Display information utility for X
 python25-2.5.4nb1   Interpreted, interactive, object-oriented programming l=
 anguage
 
 So i guessed it had little to do with py-setuptools.
