No, I have the default path, and it does include /usr/pkg

/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/pkg/sbin:/usr/pkg/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin

On the other hand, any package that ships a duplicate of binaries
already present in /usr with the intention to replace them is broken.

 Thanks
