mail/courier-mta needs openssl and apparently decides that
the base system provided version is OK ... until later, when
it discovers (too late) that it isn't OK at all.
I use pkg_comp with libkver and NetBSD 4.0 release sets installed.
(No X sets from the release, instead X11_TYPE=modular to get
kgsrc's version of modular-xorg -- but that should be irrelevant
for this package).
Attempt to build mail/courier-mta - note there is no
dependency upon security/openssl (and in fact ...
checking for openssl... /usr/bin/openssl

checking for c_rehash... no

Perhaps the base openssl in NetBSD 4.0 is too old for
this package, and the pkgsrc version would work??
