        1) install xscreensaver
        2) rotate the screen (TMDS-1 is the outout name - may vary)
         $ xrandr --output TMDS-1 --rotate right
        3) run xscreensaver
         $ xscreensaver&
         $ xscreensaver-command -lock
The bottom part of the screen is not covered by xscreensaver - it ignores the 
rotation which is quite apparent for any non-square screen.
