graphics/gd was recently updated to v2.0.34.  This causes the installed
gd-2.0.34 to be detected by configure for graphviz-2.12 (rather than
graphviz reverting to using its own gd library, which is what it has been
doing).  All's well until the build gets to .../contrib/diffimg where it
tries to use ../../lib/gd/libgvgd_C.la, which is built only for the gd that is
supplied by graphviz.

install graphics/gd (2.0.34), then (b)make in graphics/graphviz

Add the following to graphics/graphviz/Makefile:

CONFIGURE_ARGS+=        --with-mylibgd
