 Great news - I managed to get the bootstrap to complete by symlinking
 install-sh from /bin, and now running "bmake" again fetches files!
 
 So it's good news that it's fixed - but I'd be fascinated to know what
 actually broke...

 Unfortunately, the attached patch does not alter things - the
 bootstrap still aborts after not finding /bin/install-sh
