www/firefox-bin installs fine, but outputs this error when starting:
 
# firefox-linux 

(firefox-bin:17824): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Cannot open pixbuf loader module file '/etc/opt/gnome/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders': No such file or directory

and indeed, the directories /etc/opt/gnome/gtk-2.0 do exist but are empty.
