 I've asked on the teTeX ML about the problem. Somebody reported that the
 provided test document is also missing the slant on "Redhat
 tetex-3.0-9.FC4", while TeX Live 2005 renders it correctly. No other
 replies were received. I hoped to get more help there, but it seems the
 hope was inappropriate.
 
 This indicates that it's probably indeed an upstream problem and not pkgsrc
 related.
