 I don't follow your logic.
 You suggest changing mk/tools/tools.SunOS.mk

 TOOLS_PLATFORM.gunzip?=         /usr/bin/gzip -df
 TOOLS_PLATFORM.gzcat?=          /usr/bin/gzip -cd
 TOOLS_PLATFORM.gzip?=           /usr/bin/gzip -nf ${GZIP}

 to

 TOOLS_PLATFORM.gunzip?=         /usr/bin/gunzip -f
 TOOLS_PLATFORM.gzcat?=          /usr/bin/gzcat
 TOOLS_PLATFORM.gzip?=           /usr/bin/gzip -nf ${GZIP}

 but, 'gzcat' is that same thing as 'gzip -cd'
 So what difference would that make??? Are you sure you're not just confused
 about how gzip operates?
