 Have you tried creating a new spreadsheet, and saving it?  You get a 
 zero-length file.
 
 How about opening an existing spreadsheet and saving that?  Oh... you 
 get a zero-length file there too... and you can't save that 
 spreadsheet under a different name either -- cause you get a 
 zero-length file!
 
 IMO gnumeric is *very* broken right now, and people are going to lose 
 data if they don't have backups....   (I lost real data, but 
 fortunately had a backup on DVD close at hand... I'd have been really 
 ticked to have to go to tape to recover... :( )
