 On DragonFly, I saw related error:
 
   checking for krb_rd_req in -lkrb4... no

   configure: error: Kerberos 4 libraries not found
 
 libss is provided with some Kerberos implementations, like 
 pkgsrc/security/heimdal and pkgsrc/security/kth-krb4 but not 
 pkgsrc/security/mit-krb5.
 
 I don't think depending on mk/krb5.buildlink3.mk is the correct fix. But I 
 am not sure.
 
 For your OS X, can you try adding an include of a buildlink3.mk file at 
 end, maybe for mk/krb5.buildlink3.mk or security/heimdal/buildlink3.mk or 
 security/kth-krb4/buildlink3.mk to test?
