 Peter Bex (sjamaan) on irc.freenode.net/#netbsd suggested that CXXFLAGS 
 and LDFLAGS also be added to /etc/mk.conf.  I have the following in mine, 
 and this worked in producing a 64bit bmake and clean bootstrap with Sun 
 Studio 10 on Solaris 10:
 
 PKGSRC_COMPILER=sunpro
 CC=     cc
 CXX=    CC
 CPP=    /usr/ccs/lib/cpp
 CFLAGS+= -xtarget=ultra2 -xarch=v9a
 CXXFLAGS+= -xtarget=ultra2 -xarch=v9a
 LDFLAGS+= -xtarget=ultra2 -xarch=v9a
 SPARC_TARGET_ARCH= sparcv9
 
 This was with a cvs checkout of pkgsrc from a few days ago.
