That doesn't work, though, since the tcl package installs a
tclConfig.sh that uses

# -D flags for use with the C compiler.
TCL_DEFS=3D"-DHAVE_UNISTD_H=3D1 -DHAVE_LIMITS_H=3D1 -DTCL_THREADS=3D1 [...]
-DHAVE_READDIR_R=3D1 -DTCL_WIDE_INT_TYPE=3Dlong\ long [...]"

How on earth is anybody supposed to be able to configure software, if
the GNU configure can't deal with this?
