After running configure, could you try undefining HAVE_POLL
in config.h and seeing if
a) it still builds (it should use select instead of poll)
b) that fixes the problem ?

On a hunch I looked at the SOCKS wrapping, and I noticed that it
doesn't wrap poll(), only select().
