RE: Problems compiling on Irix
I have in my mk.conf file CC=gcc, is this what you mean? I guess I'll
try and download and install the precompiled binaries.

pkgsrc on IRIX by default assumes it is using the SGI cc. You might try
circumventing that by explicitly configuring gcc as the compiler.
But even then I would assume many packages, e.g. perl, silently assuming
the IRIX cc. This has come up here already a few months back, and I am
not aware of any solution having been found.
The appropriate solution in the spitit of buildlink would probably be
the gcc wrapper killing or rewriting these non-gcc options (such as the
other compiler wrappers do just the other way round :-)).
