I spent 2 days trying to get sendmail to work with CYRUS-SASL2... using
the "well documented" information you mention. Do you have a specific URL that explains how to configure sendmail wth SASL2 and plain / cleartext passwords? Pending that I will keep considering that the problem remains an issue. There will be no further updates to this package. The pkgsrc sendmail packages all work correctly with security/cyrus-sasl2 and using those two packages together is well-documented around the Internet, so sendmail is no bar to using the currently-supported cyrus-sasl2 packages. --
