Hmm, I sent this mail to the maintainer personally. Maybe he hasn't gotten
around to it yet?

Here's the mail:

That is enough for creating a working installation.

The problem is with the teTeX-share pkg in that it contains a
half-finished installation of listings. This causes problems when
using listings.sty from the user's texmf directory and also when using
it directly from the system dir.

A solution would be to remove the files from teTeX-share and relying
on the user to install from teTeX-sharesrc themselves, or building
a proper listings installation by running `tex listings.ins' from the
share sources, thereby generating a new teTeX-share which contains the
missing files.

Try yourself: Run `tex listings.ins' from the share sources and see
which files are created. These files are all needed, as well as
lstpatch.sty (at least. Maybe more). Try simply including the package
in a document to check if the installation works.

I hope this clears it up a bit. If you have further questions I'll
be happy to reply.

Regards,
Peter
