A follow up to my own report:

It turns out that packages required for this package to build are
hard-coded in the distributed file

./work/htdocs/share/mk/doc.docbook.mk

The build-requirements from the package Makefile,
files in pkgsrc/mk and etc/mk.conf seems to be ignored.

After manually editing this file, replacing ghostscript-gnu>=7.05 by
ghostscript-esp>=7.05, the package, including the pdf and PostScript
files, installs correctly.
