Even with the env vars set in /etc/mk.conf:

SSLBASE=/usr/pkg
SSLDIR=${SSLBASE}
SSLCERTS=${SSLBASE}/etc/openssl/certs

this output is generated via `make':

* SSLBASE (defined)
* SSLCERTS = /etc/openssl/certs

What explains this behavior?
