I tried to build the new PostgreSQL 8.0 Beta on a AXPpci33 Alpha with 2.0G Snapshot. 
Compiling failed with:

I built postgresql from the same sources successfully on my i386 with 2.0G.
Get the PostgreSQL 8.0 Beta sources (, unzip them and run:
configure && gmake && gmake install
