Well, there are two aspects to my recommendation: Netatalk can
character encoding in paths and file names, and the Mac will take a
disconnect of an Appletalk volume easier than that of an NFS volume.
There's a gui for mounting shares, too.
What do you use for syncing up user and group ids, btw?
