  I will have to try the ktrace option. I have some extra background info
about the problem . After a reboot or manually restarting crond from
/etc/rc.d/cron it seems to crash around 5 to 10 days later. I can see
this in log files that did not rotate correctly. There is nothing noted
in either /var/log/cron or /var/log/messages when I restart   crond .
Any idea how much storage I will need for the ktrace ?
