Yes, NetBSD 4.0 will be the first release which uses GCC 4.1.x. And GCC 4.x
is a lot pickier about C and C++ code than previous releases.

Another problem is the number of platforms supported by NetBSD.
A lot of software doesn't work on non-i386 platforms (that includes
amd64) out of the box.
