IIRC, NetBSD 3 did hang just after the kernel reported RAIDframe stuff. I
believe this is where it would report hard drives it found.
Following M. Bouyer's instructions, i was able to get the machine to boot
and install via the serial console.
I escaped to the bootloader(?) menu and did:
consdev com0
boot -c
disable ehci
quit
Below is dmesg from the boot off of the NetBSD-4.0BETA2 CD-ROM, circa ~
05June07
Installation worked fine.
I had to disable ehci to get the machine to boot from the fixed
disk. When i did no disable ehci, it hung right after repotr the DVD
devices. But it did come up all the way to the login prompt after i booted
without ehci. Unfortunately, the USB keyboard did not work at all.
