Is this the Prolific chip that does PATA to both USB and Firewire?
There are reports that this chip has problems with Firewire but
works okay with USB.

I had a disaster with this chip and a Maxtor drive on NetBSD/Alpha,
but it is working fine with a Seagate drive on FreeBSD/AMD64.
USB in both cases, I haven't tried it with Firewire.
