There's some problem I haven't figured out with the default
apcupsd .conf file. (I think that that's even mentioned in a PR,
though I don't recall the number.)

Here's a working apcupsd.conf file from a 4.0beta2 machine of mine --
and the first few lines are what really count.

UPSCABLE usb
UPSTYPE usb
DEVICE
LOCKFILE /var/spool/lock
UPSCLASS standalone
UPSMODE disable

BATTERYLEVEL 5
MINUTES 3
TIMEOUT 0

ANNOY 300
ANNOYDELAY 60
NOLOGON disable

NISIP 127.0.0.1
SERVERPORT 7000

EVENTSFILE /var/log/apcupsd.events
STATFILE /var/run/apcupsd.status
