Oh, really?  You say this because of your extensive experience doing
release engineering and version management with CVS, I assume.

Please explain exactly how you would maintain a branched product in CVS
with less tags than this, while allowing diffs to the revision of each
source file from which each released version was branched.  A hint: there
is no other way that uses less tags.

It's very easy to complain, and unsurprisingly, you seem quite good at
it.  On the other hand, it is a little harder to actually do the work.
