Yes, it would be nice to know that the downloaded file is intact before
finding out the cd-rom created therefrom isn't really bootable, or worse,
getting some fatal error from tar, gzip, or other later in the install
process.

I suppose on the unofficial site where the unofficial ISO images are found.
(In truth I would prefer encrypted signing, but I don't know if that's even
possible with ISO image files. Anyway, I thought it would be asking too
much, because the person who makes those image files has to create public
and private keys and maintain them. Lots of extra work.)
