Probably just your machine. I have

 - a lengthy pkgsrc compile going om
 - jdiscreport (java) scanning the whole filesystem
 - opera 9.10
 - firefox 2.0.0.2
 - seamonkey 1.1.1 (the latter two native) all running each about ten
tabs, including the two you quoted - without any issues.
