Yes, i understand that the fucntional is hardware-dependent, but we have
linux suspend to ram implementation(works quite good on many x86 laptops
models) which can be used as addition to a manual.
I think Linux acpi hackers will be able to help too.

i think -current users will be happy to make tests on their hardware
because lots of people miss this feature.
