The 32 bit "ls" binary is smaller and uses less memory. But "ls" is really
a bad example.

There's a lot of software out there which has problems on 64 bit platforms.
And under Solaris 10 you can easily compile it in 32 bit mode and don't
worry about 64 bit compatibility.
