That's right.
After my problem has been resolved through replacement of the RAM, I  
intend to run a software RAID5 of 6 drives (RAIDframe)
So far the system displays a read / write rate of ~10MBps, which I  
sufficient to satiate a 100mbit network.
But the processor sits there at almost idle, the bottleneck must be  
somewhere else.

I'll work on it.
