Just a general comment:
You don't necessarily need to create several RAID volumes. You can create
one RAID volume which occupies the whole disk and create partitions inside
the RAID volume.
For a plain two disk RAID 1 setup there is only one advantage of having
multiple RAID volumes. If your machine gets stuck in the middle of shutting
down some of the RAID volumes might already have been closed properly and
will therefore not be resynced when the system comes back up.
