Make sure it got as much memory as possible e.g. 8GB. Services like
anonymous CVS and rsync are usually disk-bound unless your system
has enough memory to cache the data.

Avoid any motherboards with nVidia nForce4 chipset. While the hardware
isn't bad NetBSD has a lot of problems with it.
