I have.  My PoweBook G3 has xubuntu, the XFCE version of Ubuntu Linux.  It 
recognizes my iPod as soon as I plug it in.  When I double-click on the iPod 
icon on the desktop, the XFCE file manager shows me the contents of the iPod.  
gtkpod can read and write the iPod.
