This morning I borrowed a v188. It's nice that these use a common mini
-USB cable. The phone appeared as you described and I was able to use
"cu -l /dev/dtyU0" to connect to it and then issue an ordinary ATD
command to connect to a dial-up BBS. I don't like the v188 enough to
buy one, but hopefully other Motorola phones will share the same
ability. Thanks a lot for your help.
