I am researching wireless internet options for NetBSD. This is for
something I can use with my laptop when I am traveling in the western
United States. (I am not looking for 802.11.)

I read about EVDO and my friend has told me he has had good experience
with Verizon's plans. (But he uses some operating system I care nothing
about.) Cards they sell are:

AudioVox PC 5740 (or PC5740)

Novatel (or Merlin?) V620

Sierra Wireless Aircard 555D (but doesn't support their broadband plan)

Kycera KPC650

I think they are all PC Cards (but I see code is for usb umodem so maybe
they are USB devices?).

Anyone have experiences they can share with using any of these or other
cards with NetBSD?

What about experiences with Verizon? Or other provider?

I don't know anything about EVDO -- verizon's broadband I think -- and its
other wireless internet access technologies. I just want something that
works in many locations and I don't card about great speed, even
50-120Kbps is fine.

If you know of any documentation or webpages specific for NetBSD please
point me to it.

(I blind carbon copied one developer on this message as he committed code
for the KPC650.)

p.s. I also have been using T-Mobile/Danger's Sidekick II. Its internet
access is slow and sometimes down. I don't know what technology it uses
for its internet access.
