Hi crowd,
I've been working on a funny project for a couple of days and i've been
told on #netbsd@freenode that i should probably share the firsts bits with
you all, so here it comes.
The project is called NLK (NetBSD LiveKey) and it aims to be a
non-destructive NetBSD on USB stick. Non destructive means that it is only
composed of two files, a kernel bundled with a 16MB RAMDISK and a 64MB vnd
ffs disk image (uncompressed for now, this will come) that you'll simple
copy to your VFAT USB stick. The only "hard" piece is to install the
bootloader. I choosed grub just for its ease of use and install for the
enduser (i.e., someone prisoneer in an only-windows-users house could use
"wingrub" to setup a NetBSD usb key ).
The final plan would be 64MB in total (kernel + disk image), bundling
system essentials, rescue tools, and a minimal X11 system.
So here it is, the project page is located at
http://imil.net/wp/netbsd-livekey/ (screenshots included), there's no
image to download by now as i am currently working on them, but the main
scripts are there.
Oh and yes, i know this may look like kind of useless, but it's lots of
fun to do :)
regards,
