I don't think so; mt(1) doesn't mention load and the program doesn't
recognize it.  I had no idea most tape drives could do this.

If load is a standard SCSI command, it should be fairly easy to add
support in sys/mtio.h and st(4), and then mt(1).  I'd like this
feature, so if you make a patch I'll review it and commit it if it's
reasonable.
