Hi, all,
Just a bit of fun here. You may have noticed that Microsoft Virtual
Server 2005 R2 [http://www.microsoft.com/virtualserver] is available
now as a free download. It also happens to be able to run NetBSD quite
well, judging from the 15 minutes I spent yesterday with it ( I had
NetBSD 3.0 running on it approximately 20 minutes after the download
completed, networking, X and everything... ).
http://www.spidersweb.co.uk/~ci/images/vsvr.jpg shows one of my
-current machines running a Remote Desktop session to a W2K3 server
with a visible NetBSD X11 desktop (in the background xterm one can see
Gnome 2.14 being compiled locally). I guess that even might have some
minimal geek value, especially if I start a VNC session from the
Virtual NetBSD onto the -current machine.^8*}
I will have a look later today at the performace figures (well, I
know, I should have been usin Xen, but I decided to wait until Dom0 is
working for Xen 3.0 under NetBSD; also the W2K3 server is somewhat
underused, so I can help myself to it's free cycles).
