mutt will handle your emails locally. install fetchmail from
pkgsrc and configure it so it will grab your emails. then you will
use mutt. mutt will read your emails locally and handle them.

don't forget to configure your mailer (sendmail or postfix)
so mutt will be able to deliver them properly.
