I see one problem with that: AFAIK, the installation ISOs can be made from
a crossplatform build. Considering that we cannot crosscompile packages,
this would mean that generating installation media would be considerably
more painful, especially for slower systems, since they now need to be built
natively.

Of course, an alternative would be to only provide these packages for *some*
platforms, but I feel that this would defy the purpose.
