Only if they tried to write the same bad blocks. If that partition
is already mounted, dd if=/dev/zero >/mnt/partition/zero or if
there is no need to keep the fs you could of=/dev/partition then
dd to md5. You want to write and read every block...  If there
are no errors, try again to assure the disk is up to full temp.
Sorry, it sounds *very* much like hw failure, nothing new, just be
sure, before rma time.  (Also see the linux badblocks program.)
