BTW - I had also tried fdisk -i but still, fdisk -B says the
default boot options are
0: The first active partition
1: Linux
2: Harddisk 0
the NetBSD slice is active, and there is no problem mounting
partitions in it. so why doesn't fdisk allow me to use it for
booting?
