You can never be sure about that. Especially with an "old" burner and
a - maybe - ancient firmeware. Media compatibility is in my
opinion the biggest problem with CD/DVD Burning. 

But could also be a problem of Windows or the burning software. If the
computer has a second CD or DVD drive, you could test this with a Linux or
FreeBSD LiveCD.
