I can vouch for ASUS being good. My Abit board wasn't so good. MSI is
sort of mediocre from what I know.

For SCSI cards, I use Qlogic. You can find them pretty cheap used from
servers and stuff, and in my opinion they are better than Adaptec.
Definitely cheaper. I've never had a problem with one. I have the 1280
and 1080.
