netbsd-2-base, netbsd-2-0-basenetbsd-2-0-base and netbsd-2-0-2-RELEASE
aren't branches.  they are tags.

NetBSD 2.0.2 is not on netbsd-2 but gets critical and security fixes.
it really depends on your needs, you may stay on netbsd-2-0 (to be
2.0.3) or upgrade to netbsd-2 (to be 2.1), or even netbsd-3 (to be 3.0).

yes, it's possible.  more or less the instructions are the same.  i'd
suggest you to build release sets (build.sh release) and do binary
upgrade.  you may also build an iso image and try the upgrade option in
sysinst.
