I had an AHA-2940UW and AHA-3940UW (Dual Channel AHA-2940UW) and they always
worked fine for me with disks, CD-ROM and tape drives. What problems are
you talking about?

The AHA-2940UW is too slow for that disk. You'll need at least an
AHA-2940U2W (if the disk is the only device on that SCSI channel)
to get the full performance.
